Yoga for Peace in Action
Nonprofit Causes
We invite you to learn more about about the three nonprofit causes who will put your net donations from this conference into action, thereby adding to the peaceful outcomes generated by the caring and diverse Yoga for Peace community.
Thriving with Yoga, a program of YogaCaps, Inc.

                                          “I am worth this.”
                                                                                                       Current Thriving with Yoga student

Thriving with Yoga shares free yoga and meditation classes for people with the experience of cancer.  This diagnosis dramatically changes life physically, emotionally and financially and these classes provide important support on the journey back to wellness.  The program offers free regular weekly yoga classes at three southern NH hospital locations. Family members/caregivers are also welcome     so that  students don't have to worry about driving if they are experiencing pain/fatigue and all may reap the many benefits of yoga.

Your funds will help bring wellness and inner peace to people who experience many (and sometimes multiple) types and stages of cancer.

Thriving with Yoga also offers a truly life-changing Karma Yoga experience! The Yoga Volunteer Corps (YVC) makes yoga more available and affordable.  If you would like more information about YVC or additional services offer by YogaCaps, please email info(at)yogacaps(dot)org.  You can also visit the YogaCaps table at the event or register to take the class at the conference "Carrying our Peace Forward".
Peace and Social Justice Studies Program at Nashua Community College (NCC)

The Peace and Social Justice Studies concentration within the Liberal Arts degree prepares graduates to function as community advocates to help ensure a society in which equity and peace building is embraced and preserved. This program has three major aims: (1) To prepare community members and program graduates to relate interdisciplinary theories and practices of peace and justice to their own lives and to real-world problem solving; (2) To recognize the potential of conflict as an opportunity for possible constructive outcomes and to develop alternative strategies to everyday violence through education, research, and action; and (3) To encourage academic exploration of the growing field of Peace & Social Justice Studies through the nation and the world.

Your funds will help intergenerational students in need of financial aid to make peacebuilding a college level priority! It will open access to Peace Education, Leadership and Sustainability, a transformational 3-credit course at the University of Peace in Costa Rica.

If you'd like more information, please contact Barbara Thorngren at bthorngren@ccsnh.edu.  You can also stop by the Peace and Social Justice Studies booth at the event or register to take the class at the conference "Carrying our Peace Forward".
“I want to help people find solutions to life’s challenges through peaceful means.”

St. Joseph Community Services, Inc. (SJCS) fosters independence and life enrichment for seniors and other qualified adults through nutrition, social engagement and community services.   Every weekday, we provide an average of 1,650 hot nutritious meals and a safety check to the elderly and disabled population throughout Hillsborough County.  For many of our homebound clients, the only person they see during the day is their Meals On Wheels driver.

Since its founding SJCS has served more than 10.1 million meals to an elderly, disabled and often isolated population.  We served 448,409 meals last year, this is 28,501 more meals than the previous year and the need continues to grow.

If you would like to help SJCS meet this ever increasing need by making a donation online please visit
www.mealsonwheelsnh.org or send a donation to us at St. Joseph Community Services, PO Box 910, Merrimack, NH, 03054.  If you would like to make a difference in an elder’s life by volunteering please visit our website or call 603/424-9967.

Meals on Wheels, a program of St. Joseph Community Services, Inc.
'Three years ago, I became homebound and lived by myself quite far from any family or friends. I couldn't walk or do anything for myself. One of the first services I received was Meals on Wheels.  That day was the first day I felt like things would be better. If it hadn't been for all the smiling faces and words of wisdom I received from Meals on Wheels I truly would have gotten worse emotionally and physically. Thank you mostly for the smiles."
