October 2008
Dear Jay,

We all continue to reap the rich blessings of spirit at Global Mala:Yoga for Peace events throughout the world during the weekend of September 20-21!  At our local event, 23 teachers contributed generously to the seva and we were at capacity for the venue. The morning sessions were about our inner journey to the place of peace; while the afternoon was a joyful external expression of peace in community. Here are just a few of the photos of the fun.

We have received encouraging comments from many of you... and we welcome your input and feedback by logging on to our new blog. What did you appreciate about the event; what could we do to improve? Also, feel free to upload pictures, add spiritual messages and stories. Looking forward to seeing your comments :)   http://yogacaps.blogspot.com/

On behalf of all who helped produce the event, we thank you for your donations of over $4700! After expenses, close to $4000 will help continue to sprout the seeds of love planted that weekend. Beneficiaries include free yoga/meditation classes for women with cancer through Thriving with Yoga, whole food meals for the Nashua Soup KitchenPennies for Peace and of course, all of us who attended and experienced yoga :)

With the funds we raised, we'll be preparing and serving our first (of many) whole food meals at the Nashua Soup Kitchen on Sunday October 19...would you like to join us? We'll arrive at 8:30 a.m. to start preparations and will be there through the luncheon service. Please let us know what time you can be there. We're also looking for new recipes if you'd like to share any!

Sharad poornima, allows us to reap the nourishing benefits of the full October moon. The moon is close to earth and has special curative properties. It is believed that the divine Raas Lila happened on this night. Perhaps we'll see you at the Yoga and Meditation Circle on Tuesday, October 14 so we can share some khir (a special rice pudding) that has absorbed the energies of this spiritually charged full moon!

Diwali,
the festival of lights is just around the corner... officially Tuesday, October 28... and this means Fall cleaning! A time to cleanse, clear and watch everything sparkle as we make room for the abundant light.  Since this is another Tuesday night, we'll have an opportunity to celebrate at our Yoga and Meditation Circle. Let us know if you'll be able to join us!
