YogaCaps News for June 2008

Dear Jay,
We hope you are celebrating the transition from this wondrous Spring to Summer, which arrives officially this month...each in our own way participates in this eternal cycle of nurturing, breaking through the soil, growing and bearing fruit.
We're already enjoying the fruits of the Spring crops from the organic farm community that we belong to: tender lettuces that are crisp and tasty; watching seedings emerging with outstretched leaves; digging deeply into the black gold (compost); wriggling worms purposefully aerating and enriching the soil; and of course, new friendships forming. At our Spring potluck gathering, one of the members shared these raw food recipes and resources. We hope you relish in the purity of preparing (without any cooking!) and enjoying these foods.
You may be finding some new communities too. Feel free to write to us and share your experiences. These groups start appearing around us when we raise both our awareness and the level of our practices to seek them: opening little windows and wormholes to living in more awakened spaces. Some day soon perhaps more self-sustaining communities will be the norm, drawing upon the wisdom and talents of each member.
Wishing you a great start to your summer season.

Concentration Practices... Clearing a path to Meditation
Distractions often clutter the path to our attempts to meditate. We will explore Patanjali's sixth limb of yoga, dharana (concentration), to build our focus and better equip us to control the senses (pratyahar) which feed the mind. You will experience tools for practice and techniques for this important, but less often talked about, step along the journey to dhyan (meditation) and ultimately, samadhi (bliss).
