Jay Gupta, RPh, MSc IM, RxYT
Jay Gupta is a registered community pharmacist and specializes in medication therapy management. He previously had a career in international marketing of Ayurvedic and pharmaceutical products.
His yoga immersion began in India in 1983 and he has been exploring the depths of yoga since then. Throughout his life, he has endeavored to achieve a scientific understanding of yoga and nature cure practices. He has traveled from the Himalayas to Kerala learning a variety of yoga and nature cure practices, and has studied with many of the top yoga researchers in the US and India. He shares some of the practices from the Himalayan masters in his DVD Subtle Yoga for Rejuvenation and donates all the proceeds for advancing the science of yoga.
He believes that yoga is for every body and mind, and aims to make it as easy as taking a capsule. As one of the pioneers of therapeutic yoga, he started making “yoga capsules”… and the all-volunteer non-profit organization called “YogaCaps” was born! A yoga capsule is a "practice" capsule that is done once or twice a day and takes only a few minutes to perform, with the aim of enhanced wellness.
Over past few years, Thriving with YogaCaps (a YogaCaps' program) has organically grown into the largest and longest-standing free yoga program for cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers in New England.
Jay is also co-founder of RxRelax® with the aim of educating, motivating and empowering people on the path to wellness. Services include: Therapeutic Yoga Certification for Healthcare Professionals, corporate wellness seminars, personal coaching sessions, CE programs and home practice media to empower people to make lifestyle modifications that better manage their health conditions. RxRelax® brings relief for people with insomnia, anxiety, hypertension, stress and more. Gupta is the co-creator of the audio CD “RxRelax® for Insomnia”.
He has been recognized by National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) for “Excellence in Innovation” award in recognition of his work to bridge the gap between the modern and complementary health care practices. He has earned the “My Favorite Pharmacist” award every year since inception. He also received the Consumer Advocacy Award from Greater Nashua Mental Health Center and "Excellence Award as a Community Catalyst" from Lokvani, a regional Asian Community Media organization.
Jay Gupta is an invited speaker at numerous hospital-based, health-related conferences and community events and is a featured faculty member for numerous Yoga Teacher Training programs throughout New England.
